Speedwell http://amzn.to/1SjD4cD \'Life in the fast lane tests everyone\'s limits\' OUT NOW!

I\’m proud, anxious and excited to announce that Speedwell launches today. The third book in the Katherine Wheel Trilogy covers the exciting decade of the 1920\’s when the modern age was born. Rapid changes followed the first world war and its survivors had to keep up with them, whether they liked them or not.

Here\’s the blurb:

Katy and Jem enter the 1920\’s with their future in the balance. How can they possibly make their new enterprise work? They must risk everything, including disaster, and trust their gamble will pay off.

Cassandra, juggling the demands of a young family, aging parents and running Cheadle Manor, distrusts the speed of the modern age, but Douglas races to meet the new era, revelling in the freedom of the open road.

Can each marriage survive the strain the new dynamic decade imposes? Or will the love they share deepen and carry them through? They all arrive at destinies that surprise them in Speedwell, the third book in the Katherine Wheel trilogy.

This novel is set in the 1980’s in France where Roxanne journeys with a friend to help heal a broken heart. As her friend returns to England Roxanne decides to spend the summer travelling and working in France earning money by picking grapes. She only has a smattering of the language, her sense of direction is not very good and she is naïve and gullible, an attractive young lady alone in a foreign country.

Roxanne is taken in by a handsome Frenchman and things go wrong. She is shown the kindness of strangers from an unexpected quarter.

We follow her escapades as she meets other people who become friends but who also have their own ‘baggage’ to cope with. As they travel together to different vineyards their last stay is one that impacts greatly on many people’s lives.

This is a wonderful tale told with compassion, emotion, thrills and excitement and some unexpected turns along the way.

Oh and there may be the smattering of a romance in there as well! Absolutely superb.\”

3 quotes challenge #amwriting

I was asked to come up with three quotations that move me by the ever lovely, ever generous Judith Barrow (author of Pattern of Shadows and  Changing Patterns, with a third book due out this month called Living in the Shadows. All these gritty dramas are set in the north of England, near where Judith grew up, and are gripping stories set in and around the second World War.)

Here\’s my three quotes from literature:

1) \”The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.\”
– William Blake

 2) \”Only connect.\”
– E.M. Forster, Howard\’s End

3) “I have spread my dreams under your feet;  Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.”
—W. B. Yeats, “Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven”
